I read this one last summer, in between customers, at our old space. As I was shelving books this bright yellow cover and the blurb on the back called to me. I'm glad that I read it, because Schooled was a fun read that made me smile and laugh out loud. Capricorn Anderson grew up on a hippie commune with his eccentric grandmother whom he thinks the world of. Cap's life is turned upside down when his grandmother breaks her leg and must spend weeks in the hospital recuperating. This leaves Cap, who has no other family, to live with a social worker (who understands Cap better than he knows) and her teenage daughter and attend classes at the local public middle school. Cap, having rarely ever been off the farm, is understandably a fish out of water in his new environment but he meets it with a positive attitude and a perspective that will have you growing to love him right along with the students of Claverage Middle School.

While this is not an illustrated book like Diary of a Wimpy kid, I think that boys and girls who love that series will enjoy this book as well. I highly recommend it (even for adults who enjoy sharing books with their kids). - Kristin
