Although biased by the adoration of any novel by Adriana Trigiani, I was immediately blown away and entrapped by her latest novel, "The Shoemaker's wife." Spanning from the Italian Alps to New York City, this novel follows the lives of Enza and Ciro, characters readers are apt to immediately fall in love with and think of long after the novel ends. The star-crossed lovers meet in the Italian Alps, but when Ciro is banished from the convent he grew up in after seeing a priest embracing a young woman, their lives separate. When they meet again, Enza ultimately has to make a life changing decision. "The Shoemaker's Wife" takes us through the tumultuous lives of these two immigrants before and during World War I, while they fight to build lives they love.
