really liked it

The cover of this one caught my eye, so I thought I'd give it a shot. This would be a really great text for younger YA readers. It tells about the friendship of Primrose and David. There are four years separating them in age, but shortly after meeting each other, they realize their differences actually strengthen their bond. Their friendship is not a normal one, as they are often arguing with each other, but they soon open up and discover that the events of their pasts unite them. This one deals with everything from bullying to loss of a parent.

The fact that David is 9 years old and Primrose is 13 makes this a tough sell for my older readers, but it was a nice book to read. Spinelli does a great job of getting into the heads of young protagonists who are dealing with hard life situations. I would recommend it to a young person who was facing similar circumstances.
