We near the end....or the beginning, depending on how you look at it. (This whole series is a prequel, after all) We ended Treachery in a very dark place, and it only gets darker from here. The adulterous Gabrielle Deschain lies dead, killed in error by her son Roland. What does this mean for our young hero's fate? Meanwhile, the forces of John Farson draw closer to Gilead, and within the walls of the city itself treason raises its ugly head. Can even Steven Deschain, ruler of Gilead and the descendant of Arthur Eld himself, save his city and his people? And if he were to fall in battle, could Roland muster the support needed to save the day? The title of the collection does not bode well for their success....

Marvel Comics' epic series based on Stephen King's Dark Tower novels nears its conclusion with this volume. Included here is the one-shot The Sorcerer, focusing on Marten's character and his relationship to Maerlyn's Grapefruit. The writing continues to be top-notch as Peter David works from hints dropped here and there through King's series. With this volume the entire burden of the artwork was passed to Richard Isanove, as Jae Lee no longer serves as the primary artist. Not sure why that went down, but I will say that Isanove did a good job of ensuring artistic continuity between Treachery (as well as previous volumes) and Fall Of Gilead.
