This collection of Merton essays reflects his passion for Christian nonviolence during the Cold War and Vietnam era. It is an honest reflection that shows a side of Merton not known to readers of his autobiography or writings on prayer. A relatively short work, the essays vary from Vietnam-specific to topics such as Nazi Germany and Manifest Destiny.
