I was not looking forward to reading this play and I certainly never would have picked it up on my own if it wasn't for my college Shakespeare class. Its arguable what category this play falls under, I think in todays terms it would be labled a dramady. Turns out this play is really much more captivating than I would have thought. Prospero ends up getting some pretty serious character development, how Shakespeare deals with magic, and the characters' reactions and treatment of Caliban are all pretty interesting. I kinda want to see Greenaway's Prospero's Books but I'm afraid about all the old man nudity that is said to be in it. Yikes.
