Literacy and Longing in L.A. lacked compelling plot but redeemed itself with semi-relatable narrative and well-developed characters. If you are classic-literature-obsessed, with a heart for the L.A. lifestyle and the culture that comes with it, this book may be worth your time. If you would not put yourself into at least one of those categories, I'd skip Literacy & Longing. I found myself hoping and praying this book would live up to my expectations for the brilliant premise through the very last page.
