I liked this novel a lot but it was a mess to figure out! I had to reread the first section in order to kind of start to get a grasp for the structure. In the end I actually skimmed through all of the stories again in order to get the "big picture" and figure out some of the things that I missed. I'm sure I would benefit from rereading again, as this is such a layered, complex story.

I love the concept and I think some of the writing was amazing. (Some of the characters didn't come through as strongly for me.) I loved Section 4 the most because those stories were so well connected (it was just way more obvious there) but I liked that the same characters kept popping up. Mary and Pete. Tyler, Jill, Elizabeth, and Cara. Gail and Anton were interesting but I'm not sure how they link back to everyone else. It's almost like a web that you're trying to figure out but even if you can't connect it, it doesn't really matter. Everyone's got a unique voice.

mia yay! i can't wait to see what you think!

Anna Did you ever create a web to figure out how all of the characters are related??? I wonder if I can find that somewhere online...

mia i don't remember feeling confused. maybe i should read it again. hrm.

Anna At first I was totally overwhelmed by all the characters and trying to figure out who was talking. I read the first part twice and then I got to the second part and four MORE characters' names were written and I was like, "oh, shit!" It wasn't until I was halfway through the book that it kind of all started to make more sense. I liked it a lot but it was definitely one of those where I had to use my brain to sort through it.
