After seeing this book often included in the reading lists for undergraduate courses on US Women's History, I decided to consider assigning it next semester. Although at some point in the first few chapters I decided not to use it for the course, I wanted to finish reading it myself. I was tempted to give it only two stars, because I didn't find the analysis terribly insightful and the author's too flippant and personal comments often troubled me; nonetheless, I was interested enough to finish the book, despite the pile of other books on my desk ....
Perhaps it is worth recommending to peers and mature former students, but I will take a pass on assigning it this term ...
