James Sveck, the narrator here, has much in common with Holden Caufield: he's on that brink of awareness that's been dawning in him for eighteen years - and he resents the hell out of it. He's weird and he knows it, and he doesn't feel connected to people his age. Or he's afraid to connect with them. Whatever. He's stubborn, and childish, and he makes some selfish mistakes.

In other words, it's a damn good read.

Now, he isn't like Holden in a derivitive bullshit way, like Weasel was to Screech. He's just another guy, in a similiar situation - which so many of us are.

This book is great for young adults, too, but it's got a bit of language (for those of you who would be mad at me if I didn't think to mention that.)
