Blood and Feathers was an pleasant surprise, this is really a strong debut. Take an ancient concept and make it your own, something new and fresh, wrap it up and present it with more alcohol, more guns, more humor! This is definitely not a easy thing to pull off, but Lou Morgan does it brilliantly. She introduce the reader to a believable present world, convincing characters and her graphic descriptions of the different levels of hell is really frightening.

The Archangels - Gabriel, Michael, Rafael they are all here, and not so sympathetic as you would expect, well not from a human perspective at least, no they are rather ruthless. With their army of angels they lead a everlasting war against the fallen.
The Fallen - Lucifer and the angels that fell with him, they will stop at nothing to tip the balance, with charm, lies and false promises. The wars has raged for eons, and both sides uses humans as pawns, the war is all that's matters. To keep, or tip the balance no matter what.
Then there is the Earthbounds, this is angels that has fall from grace, and find them self on earth, in a state of somewhere in between heaven or hell. They are atoning for their mistakes, if they succeed they will get back to heaven, but if they fail, they will forever be banished and thrown down to hell. These Earthbounds are interesting, colorful, has humor and are more like us humans.
And then there is Alice, an ordinary human that all of a sudden is in the center of this age old war. Why does both sides hunt her, she's just an ordinary girl, who can she trust, and want side is really the right one...

Blood and feathers makes you think about series like Supernatural and books like Good Omens and that in it self should make you want to pick up this book. But there are other reasons, the flow of the story, the humor, the authors take the mythology, the character building along with her vision on hell, is highly enjoyably (if you can say a trip down the different hell levels enjoyable)
All and all the entire reading experience is sort of an roller-coaster ride.

I need as quick as possible get my hands on book number two; Blood and Feathers: Rebellion!

Last note, the inner nerd in me soooo liked Lou Morgans extra input after the novel ended, she writes down a playlist of music that she listened to while she was writing Blood and Feathers. Some that goes with specific scenes and some are more attached to different character. Just Brilliant! :D
