A rather clever, fun little book. A lot of it is really basic for anyone who's studied music theory at all, but even those parts have lots of brief, interesting anecdotes. It's definitely more a music book than a science book... which, as someone who worked at a radio station while a science major, I have no problem with. The weakest parts come towards the end... my general skepticism towards evolutionary psychology definitely colored my opinions of the closing chapter especially. However, while he doesn't prove to me that music is an evolutionary characteristic, he does provide us with a charming, hypothetical argument. And I really don't mean that to sound condescending, but that's the best way I can think to phrase it.
