How can you not love this book? An insightful, entertaining narrator, who also happens to live in a castle in England; a host of colorful characters in her group of family and friends; romantic intrigue.

I must say that I was disappointed with the ending, as there was no closure and I really felt like Cassandra was yet "in love" with the wrong person. (How aggravating!) But in that sense, it was truer to life than a perfectly concluded novel. Also, the book followed the form of a coming of age tale in the way it started off fresh and optimistically innocent and ended with Cassandra "sadder but wiser", so to speak.

So 2 stars for the ending, 4 stars for the beginning - that comes out to 3 stars.
