did not like it
bookshelves: non-fiction, novels

I felt that Capote had become somewhat drunk on the amount of research he'd done and his ability to flesh out real-life scenes with plausible details. There was just too much in this book. Lots of detail and research but much of it wasn't really all that interesting. Very longwinded and tedious.

The basic facts of the case were pretty interesting but i don't think, it warranted 300 odd pages. Cut out at least 100 pages and this would be a lot better, though still not a really good book or anything.

David Simon's homicide is ten times the "true crime novel" that this is.
