I found this a very interesting book. The writing and plot were strong, and although there were some parts that were not entirely original, there was nothing that changed my overall rating of this book.
The characters were fun to read about. I especially enjoyed Tessa's personalisation. However, I found Theo a little fake, in the way that everything was compared to a fantasy book, like how Santa's elves actually looked more like dwarves. I would have thought him able to accept them as elves, considering all fantasy novels portray mythical creatures in a different manner. Sometimes he acted very naive and childish, and at times his sister seemed more mature than he. Marie's Brownie and musical skills came in handy, but they seemed too convenient. When the matter required something, it seemed her skills were always just there and could solve the problem.
Those two were my main problems with this book, and they changed the rating quite a lot. The rest of the book was good and I enjoyed reading it.
Although the ending was very sudden, I now want to read the next book very much, and will be looking out for it.
