In one story, two mothers marry off their daughter and son. Reba is beautiful, but mute, so they conclude that she's a perfect match for homely, crippled Marvin. The marriage is happy, until Reba learns to speak. She becomes unsatisfied with her marriage, and leaves Marvin. One day, she's suddenly struck blind, and runs back to him. The other stories are equally corny, but somehow still quite affecting.
