I'd never read Bark, George. It's not in my school library, and until last year I'd been in Middle School Land for 10 years. I'm trying to read through all the Top 100 Picture Books from Elizabeth Bird's poll listing this summer, and had to reserve this title from the library. So I'm reading it to my patient 17-year-old son (the future physicist) and he cracked up laughing at the end of the book. I was thinking of this book for pre-K but, hey, even older kids can enjoy it. I'm definitely buying a couple of copies for my school library next year.

babyhippoface This book surprised me, too. I'd never read it until a few months ago, and it didn't strike me as all that terrific--until I read it aloud to a class. Then I understood it for what it was: GENIUS. They LOVED it. L-O-V-E-D it.
