The very first book about the Blue Sox baseball team - the story of determined Johnny Madigan, who longs to "stick" with a major league baseball franchise, not only for himself but for his biggest fan, his younger brother Buzz. This book addresses the age old question: is there a place in sports for the steady, hard working but not glamorous player or do management and the fans only appreciate home run hitters? In this book, the flashy player with the bad attitude is a "college boy," who even hires a heckler to help drive Johnny back to the minor leagues.

While these books are dated, there is still something very endearing about them, and I am sure my nephews will enjoy the Horatio Alger-like baseball players.
