bookshelves: religion, history

Here’s an idea. Take as many historical books on a given religion and cram them on to one CD-ROM. Specifically, compile out-of-print and hard-to-find publications and tie it all together with crude search software from the dark days of early Windows OS. The end result is still a researcher’s dream, and such is New Mormon Studies: A Research Library.

If you have a vested interest in Mormon scholarship, regardless of your personal beliefs, this is a fantastic resource—even if the user interface is clunky and outdated. There is literally enough material on this CD-ROM for a lifetime of study, including the complete Journal of Discourses, volumes of back issues of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, and a host of full-length books that everyone from serious researchers to casual readers will find interesting.
