really liked it

I have been lucky enough to receive a proof copy of this book, for review, that will be released soon. (1st book) The Painted Bridge is one of my favorite books! And though it touches on the back stroy of the sisters troubled history, The Sacred River gives the reader a wider glimps into one of the sisters own troubled childhood. I reccomend them both! read them out of order... its ok. :-) It works.

This story takes you on a ride of revenge, regret, and politics, set in 19th century Egypt, where the main characters travel from London in hopes the enviroment of Egypt will help to improve the health of Harriet, who has been suffering her whole life from illness, and also the confinement of her life contolled by her parents.
Harriets' only knowledge of the world outside London come from the books of far off lands she holds dear as old friends, especially the land of Egypt intriges her. But the thought of ever really seeng these places with her own eyes seem all but a dream to her, until it is suggeted that a trip to the country for her health seems like a dream.
The trip though benificial for Harriet's health, suddenly turns to a trip to hell for her mother as her secret past shows up with an agenda!
Twists and turns, a beautifully told story. You can't help feel like you are on the journey with these women.
I would like more about Eberhardt Wolfe.. who?.. read The Sacred River!
