Actually a 3.5 star- I would give it a 4 if there had been more tie in with the stories developed in other novels.
The book tells the story of the various people working in the new village Heart clinic. Many of the characters they interact with have been seen in other Binchy stories. However, little is done to tell the reader of their histories. The book is really interesting if the reader has had the good luck of reading after the prior novels but would be more confusing without the background that is not provided in this book.
The book tells the story of Fiona after she returns to Ireland from her ill fated fling with a drug addict who took her to Greece and dumped her. She is now in love with a cardiologist at the clinic who would like to marry her but she is afraid to trust her judgment after earlier appalling choice.
The clinic's director is another love story. She falls for a pharmacist only to realize she doesn't really love him so much as she wants to have someone to share her life with.
Lots of major characters in other Binchy books continue their stories as subplots here.
