I really enjoyed this fun novel.
p352, realistic fiction mixed with fantasy, humor

good quote from the book:
"You never can tell when a bad thing might make a good thing happen." Lill

Coming of aqe novel for Mississippi Beaumont, Mibs, a girl with an unusual family. Each member of the family has special "talents". Mibs' Poppa ends up in a serious car accident the day before she turns 13 which leads to the family being separated. Mibs will do anything to get to the hospital over 90 miles away where her dad is in serious condition. This leads to an adventure and lots of humor.

Mibs is the main character of the story, other key characters include: Fish, Sampson, Lester, Lill, Bobbie, and Will.

Awards: Newbery Honor, Boston Globe Horn Book Award Honor Book

Key words: secrets, friends, rash decisions,actions/consequences.

Helen I agree -- great book. I read it last year as a Newbery Honor.
