really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, young-adult

One of the things I really liked about this book was Theo's missing his old life and how when his family had less money, they were all happier. It was a refreshing twist on a character, so I liked Theo from the start. One thing that did grate on me was Marie calling Theo 'Brother' constantly, it really annoyed me. However, I did like the other characters and am intrigued by the traversimorphs. I also liked how Theo's status in the new world is not quite that of a hero, so this book set itself apart in other ways than I've already said. The book ended too soon in my opinion, I am definitely left wanting more, to find out what happens to Theo and his companions. The author really puts new twists on some cliches to make for a refreshing read.
