Slight regional cozy that shows an Outer Banks fishing village in the process of transforming into a quaint tourist destination. Tension between those who pursue a near-subsistence lifestyle (including occasional consumption of protected species) and those who see the future in a service economy erupts in several murders and break-ins. I sort of didn't understand why Deborah Knott's law-school boyfriend suddenly showed up in the story, except to pour on the "the past was wonderful but it's gone forever" theme.
