Stolen: A Letter to My Captor
** spoiler alert ** I don't know if this book was groundbreaking literature, but it was fascinating and I can't stop thinking about it. Any book that can make you almost root for something that is just plain wrong is something. At the beginning of the book you are indignant, angry, and horrified at what Ty has done - kidnapped a 16 year old. However, because of the way the book is written, by the end you are almost (ALMOST!) wishing for Gemma to stay with her captor or for things to "work out". It's disturbing really. Written from the perspective of the kidnapped girl, it makes you think about Stockholm Syndrome in a more personal way - not just a term that the media throws around when there has been a kidnapping.
