Not a real review, just stating why I gave up with only 50-60 pages left. I liked the premise a lot, but the execution failed, at least for me. I didn't find any chemistry between the two, and while I understand it wasn't written as a love story I still wanted to see something. I didn't get why Trystan was calling her by her first name on practically the first meeting (worse yet, but a nickname "Isa") when they are strangers and she's the High Queen FGS. I couldn't ascertain whether Trystan was Pagen or Christian, but either way I couldn't see someone in that period cursing by saying "Jesus Mary and Joseph" and "Christ" to name two. By the end I was beginning to feel I was in an action/adventure movie with Butch, Sundance and Etta (who were really really good) battling the bad guys (who were really really bad).

Laura another wall-banger Misfit??

Misfit Not a wall-banger, there were just those few issues that finally threw me out of the story altogether. Michele and Amy loved it though. I'll be curious to see what Tanzanite says when she reads her copy.

Laura lets wait them...

Historigal Trystan calling Isolde "Isa" when they seem to be meeting for the first time is a clue. By the end of the book we know that they have, in fact, met before and that early on the author is giving us a hint at that with Trystan's slip of the tongue.

Misfit Ah, thank you.

Marie I am enjoying the book but did notice everything you mentioned, the Christ usage bothered me & wish it wasn't used. But still a fun read for me currently. The knowledge that this is a trilogy is helping it also.

Tanzanite I'll probably be starting it this weekend.

Misfit I'm looking forward to thoughts/reviews from both of you. Maybe you'll convince me to finish it.
