This book about a Crusade under Richard the Lion-Hearted is told through the perspective of two young men, one English, one Saracen (under Saladin), united by the wonderful Blood Red Horse of the title. Though it is the first book of a trilogy, it had a very resolved, satisfying ending. The bloody battles will appeal to others more than me.

Brian I really liked that one, and its sequel... Though I never got to the third book. The author's a really nice and very interesting lady...

Tamsyn Hi Brian,

I'm still only about 40 pages in -- he hasn't left for the Crusades yet. I'm reading it out loud with my son, but he's not as interested in reading aloud lately at 13+. Other things -- paintball, friends, Xbox, etc. seem to be more interesting than reading aloud with Mom. I'm lucky it lasted this long.

Anyway, I am looking forward to this -- I've only heard good things.
