** spoiler alert ** a thoroughly fun and engrossing book. it's been awhile since I read an entire book in less than a day. I liked Kendra, and was unceasingly frustrated with Seth, although I admired his intrepidity occasionally. and the fairies at war were awesome! in fact, the fairies, as they were so frequently described and as they played out in the story, were one of my favorite parts. I am interested to see how Kendra is affected in the following books by her experience.
This book is a little scary, especially the assault on the house and the kids' room. considering that I, as an adult, had bad dreams after reading that section, I would suggest being careful reading it to smaller children. but older kids should thoroughly enjoy the adventure. I highly recommend the book, and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
