it was amazing
bookshelves: essays, how-to, nonfiction, philosophy, self-help, spirituality

Gorgeous, straightforward, gently funny, wise, and deeply comforting.

I've been churning through books on spirituality lately—my come-to-Jesus years came late in life—and so far, this is the one that has spoken most deeply to me, probably because Chödrön has such depth of knowledge she's able to explain things well and lightly. For the first time, I feel like the idea of obstacles as teachers has been explained to me in a way I can not only understand, but embrace. And that is an amazing thing.

I love Jack Kornfield's audios for listening (Pema's voice puts me to sleep), but this is absolutely the book-book I will reach for when stuck in or struck by one of life's endless series of entanglements.
