it was amazing

Oh sweet, beautiful, wonderful, heart-breaking young adult fiction. This novel lives up to all it's hype. An honest, tragic love story told from the alternating perspectives of the title characters in 1986.

They are terrific, clever (in the YA tradition of being much more wise and quick-witted than I actually remember being at 16.) The huge emotional turmoil of this story lays right on top, very obvious, but that strikes me as very true to a teenager's perspective.

First love is a great, if easy, topic for YA novels, but Rowell handles it with such tenderness that I fell into this story completely. Reminded me so much of The Fault in Our Stars. So glad I finally read this.
