it was amazing
bookshelves: romantic-supense, romance

This one had me to the very end. I was blindsided by both the villain and the motive. For that alone it gets 5 stars. That the story was wonderful and very sweet was a bonus. Julie Rose has been a background character in all the books of the Visitation, NC series and she was a sweet, docile schoolteacher. She was described as being plain and not a forceful personality. Well, Lori Foster decided to kick this character up quite a bit and show us that a plain Jane type woman can really kick butt when needed.

Julie has left Visitation, NC and returned to Cincinnati, OH, her hometown, to make changes in her life. She broke up with her fiancée, Robert, and is planning to kick up her heels, experience new things and generally live her life to the fullest. At least until the fall when she will return to teaching. Right away she is kidnapped and held for ransom. Robert is frantic, and hires Clint Evans, a big, really scary dude to find her and return "his fiancée". Old Robert is not being exactly honest with Clint and Clint knows it. Clint finds and rescues Julie, losing his heart in the process. Until he can figure out exactly why she was kidnapped, she isn't safe, except with him.
