Hmmm...I was fully prepared to not like this book. I was underwhelmed by Twilight (movie, not book) but thought I should see what all the noise is about. Not a great book, but very enjoyable -- a really good beach read; mindless, easy to read, follows, not many characters/places etc to keep track of. Decent pace, moves right along. My only real quibble is that it is about twice as long as it needs to be. (1100+ pages large print, maybe 700+ regular print?)

It is a good sci fi theme, good exploration of what it means to be human. Her characters are a bit too volatile to be likeable, especially the men -- I guess sexy is supposed to make up for controlling? Even the "sweet" guy can't control his temper. Maybe I'm just old.

I'd recommend it to anyone looking for some easy-to-read pure escapism, with a little food for thought thrown in....
