really liked it

This book takes up where the marvelous, eloquent Angela's Ashes leaves off--with young Frank McCourt, who grew up in Ireland since he was about five years old, taking the boat back to America, where he had been born of Irish immigrant parents. McCourt's honest, funny style continues to serve well as he describes the boat voyage, the whole chaotic process of settling in back in to a new society, struggling to keep financially afloat, and eventually getting a college education. I can't say enough about how fun this book is to read and what a wonderfully natural and compelling writing style McCourt has.
