I found this fascinating. I don't know why...I'm so not a science-y person. But I really knew very little about this part of history and it had such a huge impact on the world. I also like stories about the inside happenings of things and so the part about how the scientists were trying to figure things out and the politics of it all I found very interesting.

Definitely don't read this while eating, though. Some of the descriptions of the flu's affects are quite grotesque. Very scary - made me realize better what all the panic is about this swine flu.

I did some reading up on what has happened since and they seem to have made some progress figuing out more about the flu since the book was written. I'd like to see an updated, expanded version. Amazing how much we know through science and yet, how little.
