OK. Honesty. I did not read the entire book (only 2/3). It is way overdue at the library and I'm going to return it. At times, I was mesmerized by this book. But then many days would go by during which I didn't read it and I would lose my enthusiasm. It's really, really, really long.

In the book, there are no longer practical magicians in England -- only theoretical magicians (and quite a lot of them). Or so they think. It turns out there is a practical magician (Mr. Norrell) and then another (Jonathan Strange). This book is extremely well researched and written and I'm going to read the final 1/3 one day. Maybe when I'm hiding away on a beach somewhere for a week.
