really liked it

I give Ehrman high ratings. He's a good author with decent scholarship. My one beef with him is that he's good enough to know that he should address some criticisms of his work, namely postmodernist reading strategies and Orthodox and Catholic biblical appropriation strategies that have long acknowledged his points in practice if not statement.

In short, I tend to think it's a lone hinderance to Dr. Ehrman's work that he's entered the scholars-to-dollars industry full-throttle by beating the tar out of fundamentalist Straw Man understandings of the scriptures which, however popular, have long been dismissed from serious scholarship, especially by Christian scholars. Thus, an otherwise great semi-popular-level book comes across a little too much as a diatribe against Dr. Ehrman's own evangelical past.
