I have to admit up front that the genre of novels in poetry form is not a favorite of mine. I feel that both the poetry and the storytelling suffer when the two are put together. That having been said, the subject matter of this book and the emotional impact on the narrator are solidly presented, and the topic is an ambitious one to take on. If it seems like I'm being cagey, it is only because I do not want to spoil the narrative that Kimberly Marcus has developed. Suffice it to say that it is not an easy topic, and it is one for which there are no easy answers. Marcus does not flinch in her portrayal of a young woman torn in two by circumstances out of her control. A must read, especially for young women.
