This book was far better than the dreadful pink cover suggests - OK, it is a bit of a teen love story, and there's a sappy key metaphor carried on throughout the book, but I liked Ruby and the way she approaches her abandonment by her mother. I think the whole fitting-in-with-the-wealthy thing could have been done really badly, and it actually worked well, but I didn't love it enough to read any more of Dessen's books.

Alarra She's quite hit and miss for me, but I would say to give her another try if you have time because when she gets it right she can be *so* good. My favourite is Just Listen, followed closely by The Truth About Forever. This Lullaby is the other one that most of my friends really like.
