City of Light, City of Dark
Eh. I had higher hopes for this b/c it started out like it was going to be creating a modern myth, but then it goes on to just oversimplify everything. Neither characters nor plot are developed; thus, lots of things don't really make sense -- you're just expected to accept them. Binaries abound. This is probably more of a children's book than a YA one, but still, I don't like when books for youngsters assume their audience is dumb. I did like the prominent Latino character and the use of Spanish in the text.
