Again, I love Mishima. I read his short stories, and although I am not the biggest short story reader, these continued to deepen my understanding an appreciation of Japanese culture and Mishima's macabre take on life. I will never forget how I physically shuddered in the subway while reading a detailed description of a character committing hari kari, or the village that was overrun with Hepatitis (I think, or some other awful disease) and how Mishima manages to make political commentaries while focusing on the craft of fiction writing.
