This isn't a bad book at all. It is funny at times and the main character is interestingly conflicted. Unfortunately, she is surrounded by two-dimensional caricatures. All the (openly) religious people are bad and too concerned with looking good. All the (openly) "scientific" people are perfect, quirky sure but perfect. It may be that this is they way that a teen protagonist would actually view and describe the people around her, but as an adult reader it came off as propaganda instead of fiction. Also, on occasion, it does a poor job of explaining evolution.
