Stage Seven

As one of what feels like the few people with no firsthand knowledge of Alzheimer's Disease, Stage Seven was a touching, sometimes tragic introduction to how AD ravages individuals and families. To the author's credit, she also imbues the situation with much humor--so important when meeting life's challenges! The main story line is a romance between two people caring for loved ones in the Tropical Gardens Memory Care facility. This unlikely setting adds a new twist to your typical romance. And the fact that the man's wife is a patient with advanced AD adds a moral dilemma element that makes you think and take stock. Colorful characters abound and the prose flows smoothly, making this a fun, easy read and, for people like me, an education.
