I’m somewhat of a coward about reading poetry and when I find a collection such as The Waker’s Corridor by Jonathan Thirkfield containing a series of linked poems I am intimidated. But I pressed forward, beyond the impressive thematic connectedness of the entire work, because the collection was judged by Linda Bierds as the winner of the Walt Whitman Award of the Academy of American Poets. What I found inside were poems suffused with a dream walker feel, almost as if the poet were encountering vision for a first time.
