really liked it

This historical novel is set in Australia when it was a penal colony. An English couple are sent there as punishment by a judge. It tells of the life they carve out of the wilderness, her longing for home and their interactions with the aboriginals and the colorful characters that were their neighbors. This book is very well written..terrific vocabulary and wonderful descriptions that are not flowery and not overdone. This is a piece of history that I was not very familiar with and enjoyed learning about. Hopefully, I will get to Australia to see the land myself!
