it was amazing

Not an academic text, not an atlas, but a chronological string of true stories about maps and mapmakers. I'm a huge fan of Garfield's Just My Type and now he's charmed me again. Even if you think of maps as just directions, you might enjoy the story of the British church dean who nearly sold a priceless medieval treasure to fix the roof, or which historic map really contains the words "Here be Dragons" (hint: none of them).
