really liked it

I love Wallace Stegner. Loved this book. I am so curious how much of it came from his own life, probably because it all rings so true. You know people like these characters, yet it's not boring at all. There are parts that seem to ramble as the narrator ruminates or philosophizes, but even those are so well crafted that I didn't mind them much. The story and timeline is intelligently put together. I think I would have given 5 stars, except the ending was a bit abrupt. Recommended.

Tami I can't wait for your review. All I care about is if it is as good as Angle of Repose. I loved that book!

Sherry That was one of the most satisfying books to read. Read it years ago and still remember the story line. You summed it up well as I did want a different ending. Seemed almost out of character for the outcome of his problem.
