Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey: The Lost Legacy of Highclere Castle

This book tells the story of Highclere Castle and its inhabitants during the time period that Downton Abbey (which is shot there) is set. I found the first portion of the book very difficult to get into, as it's mostly a recitation of names and places and society lady things. However, once we get into the Great War, it becomes much more interesting. Just as in the show, the family turned the castle into a hospital, and there are some other interesting echoes of things that happen in the show. Overall I found this interesting, but I fear that some fans of the show will pick it up and be disappointed, as it is really the story of the family, and doesn't discuss any connections with the show at all.
