it was amazing
bookshelves: own, for-the-kids

Surprised to read so many negative reviews. I was mesmerized by this book and read it in one sitting. I completely buy that a 9YO would be so naive and clueless to the horrors around them. The point of both boys being the same but for the side of the fence they were born to was perhaps a bit heavy-handed but completely appropriate for a young adult/preteen novel. I think Boyne treated the subject with sensitivity and insight, and I appreciated that I was made to think of a familiar topic from a unique point of view. Recommended for those who read The Book Thief.
