Pilot on Board: the 175th Anniversay History of the Port Phillip Sea Pilots

Growing up I had many holidays in Queenscliff. Much older, I now come back every January to Point Lonsdale. I have spent many hours watching the ships come through the heads and watched the busy pilot boats going about their business. When you hear the pilot boats engines, you can expect a ship soon.
This book was a fascinating work and it explained a unique history in a highly interesting way, especially if you are familiar with the area. (If you are not, it will entice you to the area.) There were many beautiful illustrations accompanying the text. Anecdotes and quotations from various figures throughout the pilot service's history added more personal touches. A useful and extensive index is also included.
