really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction

It was refreshing to come off of a few fun but poorly written books and delve into an author capable of telling a compelling and literate story. This is an atmospheric espionage tale; far more realistic than your stock spy authors (Ludlum springs to mind). A bit confusing at times, but I always appreciate an author who trusts the reader to read between the lines.

This is actually my second attempt at Alan Furst, and I'm glad I stuck with this one. Well worth the investment of my time.
